Below, you will find answers to frequently asked questions. If you have other questions or need more details, please do not hesitate to contact the Student Councellor at the Department of Business Studies.

Eligibility

I do not fulfil the requirements, but I have other experiences that correspond to the requirements. Am I eligible?
The entry requirements must be fulfilled and cannot be replaced by, for example, working experience. No exemptions will be made.

I have the credits and courses that correspond to a Bachelor’s degree, but I do not have the official diploma. Can I still be registered?
We need to see a copy of the official diploma for you to fulfil the requirements. An official transcript of records is not enough.

How do I translate my credits into ECTS credits?
You do not have to translate your credits yourself, we at the Department do that. As a guidance, 30 ECTS credits equals to one semester (i.e. 20 weeks) of full time studies.

Do I need to fulfil the entry requirements when applying?
No, you can apply without fulfilling the entry requirements. If admitted, you will be admitted with conditions. In that case, you must show that you fulfill all the entry requirements no later than 8 o'clock on the first day of the semester.

If I send you my transcripts, can you tell me whether I fulfil the entry requirements?
Unfortunately, we do not give pre-evaluation of eligibility. Your application will be assessed when you apply.

What are the entry requirements?
The entry requirements vary depending on the Programme. Please check the Master's Programme websites for more information.

Application

Is GMAT mandatory?
No, GMAT is not mandatory. However, choosing not to include GMAT will lower your chances of admittance since applicants with GMAT have priority over ones without.

What is the lowest accepted GMAT score?
We do not have a lowest accepted score. The lowest required score for each semester depends on other applicant’s scores.

How can I find statistics over what scores were required for admission previous years?
Go to Universitet- och högskolerådets webpage for statistics. Choose “HT20XX” for information about the national admissions round, and “MasterHTXX” for information about the international admissions round. B stands for non-fee paying students and A for fee paying students. Please note that the information is only to give an estimation, as the required score depends on the other applicants the same year.

I have studied my Bachelor at Uppsala University – am I given priority?
No, we do not base selection on where you have studied previously.

What are the English requirements?
The required English proficiency can be documented by different tests, such as IELTS or TOEFL. Please see the webpage for general entry requirements for more information.

Are there any exemptions to the English requirements?
Please see the information on exemption on University Admissions webpage.

What information must be on my transcript?
The transcript must show what courses you have studied and how many credits each course is. If it does not, you will be deemed as unqualified since we cannot calculate how much business and/or statistics you have studied. It is also good, but not mandatory, that the transcript shows the length of your education. If we do not know how long your Bachelor’s studies are, we will assume it is three years (i.e. the length of a Swedish Bachelor’s degree).

Admission

Can I start the Programme during the spring semester?
No, our Master’s Programmes only start during the autumn semester.

My application was assessed as unqualified, but I think that I meet the requirements. What do I need to do?
The general entry requirements are assessed by the Admissions Office at Uppsala University that can be contacted via e-mail, studentservice@uadm.uu.se. The specific entry requirements are assessed the Student Councellor at the Department of Business Studie via e-mail, master@fek.uu.se.

I am on the waiting list – when will I know if I get admitted or not?
If you can be offered a spot on the Programme, we will contact you via e-mail. You can also see our web page for information on whether or not we call reserves. If we call reserves it will be done after the last day of registration.

I am on the waiting list – can I get a spot if someone drops out of the Programme during the semester?
No, we always admit more students than we have spots for since we know that some will drop out during the semester.

Registration

I forgot to register, can you help me?
Unfortunately, if you have forgotten to register you have lost your spot on the Programme.

I am admitted without conditions, how do I register?
First, you need to create a student account on Studentportalen. After that, you can register through Studentportalen.

I am admitted with conditions, how do I register?
Before you can register, you must prove that you fulfil the requirements for the Programme. This is how you do it:

  1. Send an e-mail to master@fek.uu.se stating that you intend to register. This must be done no later than the last day for registration.
  2. Send an e-mail to master@fek.uu.se with transcripts and/or diploma, to show that you meet the requirements. This must be done no later than 08 o'clock on the first day of the semester.

Fees and scholarships

Who do I turn to if I have questions regarding tuition fee, how to pay it and the deadline for payment?

Am I required to pay tuition and application fee?
Please see the information on University Admissions webpage for exemptions to the tuition fee.

Can I apply for scholarships?
Please see the information on Uppsala University's scholarship webpage

Once on the Programme

I want to change the order of the Programme – can I do that?
No, it is not possible since the Programme follows a fixed study route.

I want to change the specialisation of my Programme. How do I do that?
It is not possible to change the specialisation once on the Programme. If you want to study on another specialisation, you have to apply to the Programme again and chose that specialisation.

I want to do an Internship during the third elective semester – can you help me find a position?
No, we do not help students find internship positions. However, we have a job market on the Internship webpage, where some companies advertise that they are looking for an intern.

I want to go on exchange studies during the third elective semester – how do I do that?
You can go on exchange either through the Department of Business Studies or through Uppsala University’s Division for Internationalisation.

Degree

What are the requirements for a degree?
The requirements vary, depending on if it is a one-year or two-year Master’s Programme. Please see our webpage for degrees.

I have studied previous courses that I want to include in my degree – can I do that?
It is possible to include other courses than the ones we offer as long as the requirements for a degree are fulfilled. The courses are not allowed to overlap with other courses that you want to include in your degree. Also, if you have studied previous courses, they cannot be part of your Bachelor’s degree, and they cannot have been part of your eligibility for the Programme. You must also make sure you fulfill the requirements within the Programme if you want to use previous courses.

How do I apply for my degree?
You apply for the degree through Ladok. If you have further questions, please contact the Degree Office at Uppsala University via e-mail, examen@uadm.uu.se
